Chloe and Halle were the Stars of Last Nights BET Awards… Argue with ya mama
I was shocked, honey I was in tears almost because this year’s BET Awards were actually entertaining. Last night we were given high-quality visual performances that were well thought out and told full circle stories. Megan Thee Stallion had an amazing Mad Max inspired performance but the true stars of last night’s celebration of Blackness were Chloe x Halle!
Let’s talk about production value! Chloe and Halle gave us two beautiful live musical visuals to their bops “Do It” and “Forgive Me”. And we BAP’s were living the ENTIRE time! The sisters started off with “Forgive me” in all black patten leather structural cut out looks then transitioned into their hit “Do It” with outfits that were reminiscent of TLC in their No Scrubs video. The looks were designed by Aazhia Rhy the brainchild behind TLZ L’FEMME, a Black owns clothing brand that has dressed other artist celebrities like Saweetie and Dreezy. The Chloe X Halle’s high-quality performance gave us nostalgic 90’s vibes in the choreography and the overall visual aesthetic while still staying authentically Chloe x Halle.
Everything about this performance was perfection, it really did showcase their pure talent in every way. Their harmonies were like gelato: smooth, sweet, and pure. And because this was a mashup and because they are professionals they showed BET Awards viewers who they are as vocalists, songwriters, dancers, and stylistas.
I personally think Chloe x Halle are VERY slept on! Their latest album, Ungodly Hour is an amazing body of work but their first album, The Kids Are Alright, is a coming of age album that’s just as good. It’s clear that Chloe x Halle have grown since their first album. These girls are more than just singing duo, they are two talented artists that create musical experiences for their fans.
If you haven’t streamed their music I HIGHLY recommend you do so IMMEDIATELY!
